Abstract

In this multi-year project, we implemented an afterschool STEM program for Chin refugee high school students to engage them in critical STEM literacy. The youth were encouraged to draw on their funds of knowledge and diverse linguistic assets as they participated in large and small group projects. They created videos and posters about the impact of climate change in local and global contexts. The resultant corpus of data comprises videos, artifacts, and interviews. Our research from this project has examined the narratives and discursive identities of the youth, their engagement with critical science literacy, and their knowledge construction as historicized actors.
