Our group’s research focuses on issues around diversity, equity and inclusion in various STEM and chemistry learning environments in both formal and informal education settings. K-16 classrooms and informal learning settings are becoming more diverse, representing multiple different races, languages, and cultures of learners. The ultimate goal of our research is to understand the learning experiences of historically minoritized learners and design learning environments that support personally meaningful STEM learning experiences for these students. We draw on various qualitative research methodologies, including video ethnography, multimodal discourse analysis, and interviews.
